Apart from being one of the first steel mills in the world to adapt to the use of DC arc furnace, it is also the first of its kind in Southeast Asia to install High Productivity Twin Shell DC Arc Furnace in its second Steel Making Plant.

The Group has now structured its business to be more focused based on product group, and Southern Steel Rod SdnBhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary is now concentrating in developing Rod business, in particular development of high grade wire rod.
